Flat and Warm Roof installation by Scotland’s Leading Subcontract Joiners

Subcontract Joinery

Demand for our skills and expertise in commercial and sometimes not so traditional joinery continues to increase. This challenging and complex flat and warm roof project was for our client Hugh Stirling. The programme of work included the installation of new timber trusses, supplied by Stevenson and Kelly, to five sections of roof areas. All were stepped at different levels to create one large flat roof. The trusses were designed at a higher pitch to improve watershed. Parapet walls were extended to incorporate the raised roof pitch and to maintain the high ceilings of the flats below. Using a temporary scaffold roof tent, all joinery works were carried out and prepared for zinc cladding. The project also included remedial works to the top floor flats with new ceilings throughout and internal remedial works.

Joinery for the hospitality sector – Hotel Indigo and Staybridge Serviced Apartments

Joinery for the Hospitality Sector in Scotland

Continuing our reputation for quality of workmanship and standards of service, we added to our hospitality portfolio when we were appointed to one of our largest door fitting and finishing packages on behalf of our client Sharkey at Hotel Indigo and Staybridge Serviced Apartments in Dundee.

Transformed from a two-hundred-year-old jute mill, the 102-room Hotel Indigo Dundee sits between the waterfront and the heart of the shopping district. Rich in history, the first spinning mill was built on the site in 1822 by the Baxter family who became one of the world’s largest linen manufacturers. Respectfully renovated, the hotel’s room designs are inspired by Dundee’s past and present and feature the original vaulted brickwork ceilings.

Ash Contracts Appointed to Upgrade Co-op, Kirckaldy

Custom Manufacturing Scotland

Continuing a long association with the Co-Op, Ash Contracts was appointed by HB Projects to fully upgrade the Co-Op in Kirkcaldy.  This most recent upgrade marked the 40th project undertaken by the team at Ash Contracts on behalf of various clients for Co-Ops throughout the UK.

Working from the ground upwards, the first action by the team was to identify structural issues which needed to be addressed.  Ash Contracts replaced rot infected joists and then fully sheeted the flooring with a double layer of plywood to allow follow on trade to begin work on site.  Ash Contracts installed partitions, suspended ceilings, and PERSTORP fire-rated Formica panelling and columns on the walls.

Tony Lochran, Director at Ash Contracts, commented:

“Our programme of works on this occasion was to create the shell of a retail unit which is fit for purpose for years to come.  We applied our expert craftsmanship to produce a finished shell ready to be fitted out.  We also completed all the staff areas, office areas, timber openings, the backing for external signage and we custom manufactured doors throughout the building.
